THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DAVE THE KING (P Strydom) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) TCHAIKOVSKY (K A Brewer) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) SWING UPON A STAR (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey K A Brewer reported that TCHAIKOVSKY took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) Jockey R Fourie was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride SWING UPON A STAR out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chance of obtaining fifth (5th) place. Jockey R Fourie signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R10,000 was imposed. c) DYCE (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MERCANTOUR nasal discharge b) TCHAIKOVSKY not striding out right hind. c) FOREVER MINE pulled flank muscle.
