Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The tongue tie on AFTER THE RAIN (M Yeni) was re-fitted at the start. b) DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE (G van Niekerk) jumped awkwardly inwards. c) NOBLE CITY (G Wright) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, WITHOUT QUESTION (C Bantam) cast its right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be re-fitted, causing a delay. b) Approaching the 100m SURJAY (L Mxothwa) shifted out sharply and had to straightened. c) Leaving the 100m MONTIEN (A Andrews) had to be directed outwards away from the heels of WECANGOALLNIGHT (S Veale), which was hanging out and shifted out. Thereafter, MONTIEN (A Andrews) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between BARTHOLDI (S Khumalo) and SILVER FALCON (JP van der Merwe) at the finish. d) Jockey R Danielson reported that KING REGENT changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) COSMIC HIGHWAY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised. (WM) f) COUNTDOWN, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised.
