THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHOTGUN WILLIE (S Moodley) was restless in the stalls. b) LUCKY DOLLAR (S Veale) lost 1 length. c) LORD WYLIE (S Khumalo) stumbled shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At approximately the 1200m SUNDANCE KID (C Habib) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between BEACH PALACE (M Yeni) which rolled out and CAPTAIN WHO (C Maujean). b) LUCKY DOLLAR (S Veale) over-raced in the early and middle stages and as a result was allowed to take up a forward position approaching the 800m. c) QUICK STAR (M Thackeray) and CAPTAIN WHO (C Maujean) came together and brushed on two occasions between the 200m and the 100m. d) In the concluding stages WYLIE RILEY (C Zackey) and SUNDANCE KID (C Habib) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of LORD WYLIE (S Khumalo) which shifted out. Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of LORD WYLIE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horses WYLIE RILEY (C Zackey) and SUNDANCE KID (C Habib), in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days was imposed. Dates to be confirmed. e) In view of the performance of SHOTGUN WILLIE (S Moodley) (8.30 lengths, 6/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) LORD WYLIE (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
