Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	After being loaded, the bit on CONTINENTAL EXPRESS (J Solomons) pulled through this colt's mouth, which had to be corrected by a Handler, causing a delay.
a)	KWITE A KING (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride.
c)	GREENLAND (G van Niekerk) and SANSA STARK (K Steyn) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Approaching the 500m LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING (A Arries) was carried inwards and then had to be steadied away from the heels of GREENLAND (G van Niekerk) which shifted in. Thereafter, POINTDEXTER (O Noach), which was initially brushed outwards by FIRINGONALLENGINES (RA Venniker), had to be checked and shifted in away from the heels of GREENLAND (G van Niekerk), which continued to shift inwards. As a consequence, FIRINGONALLENGINES (RA Venniker) shifted inwards away from POINTDEXTER (O Noach) and carried TWO A PENNY (R Fourie) inwards, which made contact with FRENCH TRIP (A Mgudlwa), which became unbalanced. An Inquiry will be held into this incident.	
b)	Approaching the 50m LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING (A Arries), which initially shifted outwards and KWITE A KING (JP van der Merwe) brushed, resulting in POINTDEXTER (O Noach) being momentarily unbalanced.
c)	Jockey A Arries was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING he misused his crop by striking LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. 

d)	TWO A PENNY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised. (WM)
