Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	NOTORIX (D Ashby) fly-jumped leaving the stalls.
b)	DUKE OF ORANGE (Y Ramzan) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	GREY SMOKE (R Danielson) proved difficult proceeding to the start, causing a delay. Trainer TJ Laing will be advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, he may be suspended.
b)	Jockey E Webber reported that he felt something amiss with MASERATI ROAR and he eased this gelding out of the race in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.

c)	MASERATI ROAR (E Webber) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 120 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden)
d)	Jockey D Schwarz (PUTINS PROMISE) appeared before the Board and was told that his use of the crop had come under notice by the Stewards. While the Stewards accepted that his use of the crop was not deemed to be excessive, he was advised to refrain from using his crop when his crop arm is above shoulder height.
e)	GREY SMOKE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee G Venter, acting on behalf Trainer TJ Laing, was advised. (LM)
