THE STARTER REPORTED: a) UBUKHWEBEZANA (D Daniels) refused to load and was withdrawn. b) ROY'S OYSTER (A Mgudlwa) stood losing 3 lengths. Trainer P M Gadsby will be advised to re-school this mare. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 150m, TOMYRIS (C Habib), which over-raced in the early stages, was switched to the inside of BLUE HORIZON (*K J Lihaba) to obtain a clear run. b) Approaching the 1000m, BLUE HORIZON (*K J Lihaba) was eased off the heels of CAPTAIN MARVEL (*S Hlengwa) which shifted in. As a result, ELUSIVE BELLE (C Maujean) was eased and switched out when awkwardly placed on the heels of BLUE HORIZON (K J Lihaba). Apprentice S Hlengwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of CAPTAIN MARVEL, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BLUE HORIZON (*K J Lihaba) and ELUSIVE BELLE (C Maujean) at approximately the 1000m. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days was imposed (Dates to be advised). c) Shortly before the finish VATHOMVLAFFIE (R A Venniker) was steadied when awkwardly placed between GORGEOUS GIRL (S Veale) which rolled out and ELUSIVE BELLE (C Maujean) which rolled in. d) Apprentice S Hlengwa (CAPTAIN MARVEL) reported that his saddle slipped backwards in the running. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to UBUKHWEBEZANA (D Daniels), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn, and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 19.02.2024 to the 25.02.2024 bdi. UBUKHWEBEZANA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M J Odendaal was advised (SN). f) BLUE HORIZON (*K J Lihaba), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W H Marwing advised (HM).
