THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JUST RECKLESS (T Godden) was stubborn loading. b) DISCERNING (C Zackey) kicked the back gate in the stalls. c) GREY FANTACY (S Khumalo) reared in the stalls as the start was effected, dislodging the Rider. d) AFRICAN BEAUTY (M Yeni) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) A Race Review was called into the start of this race where it was established that GREY FANTACY, in stall gate 5, had reared on a number of occasions, as well as when the gates were released, which resulted in Jockey S Khumalo being dislodged. The Board, after reviewing the patrol film and interviewing the Starter, formed the opinion that this incident was a result of GREY FANTACY'S own behaviour and therefore, acting in terms of Rule 61.5.10.3, declared GREY FANTACY a runner. b) JUST RECKLESS (T Godden) shifted out from the crop from the 300m and thereafter hung out in the concluding stages. c) Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with FORCE EIGHT in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) ALMOND SEA (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MS). e) JUST RECKLESS (T Godden), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
