Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	PORTCULLIS (K Steyn), DAWN CLOUD (M Mjoka) and JUAN LES PINS (A Mgudlwa) jumped slow, losing one length.
b)	TAKE A MULLIGAN (C Orffer) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, JUAN LES PINS (A Mgudlwa) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	PORTCULLIS (K Steyn) and ISCHYRO (O Noach) were held up for a number of strides approaching the 200m behind DANCE MASTER (X Carstens) and DEVIL A SAINT (B Fayd'Herbe), both of which were tiring quickly and commenced to give ground. 
c)	DEVIL A SAINT (B Fayd'Herbe) was hanging in from the 300m.
d)	Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with GO IT ALONE and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	Trainer D McLachlan was charged with a contravention of Rule 59.5.1, in that he declared Jockey B Fayd'Herbe to ride DEVIL A SAINT and did not declare the agreed overweight at the time of final declarations. Trainer D McLachlan signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00.
f)	FOUR JACKS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised. (TJ)
