THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PERSISTANCE (M van Rensburg) refused to jump and stood in the stalls as the start was effected. b) BENNELONG POINT (M Yeni) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. c) SIRNIHAALLONGSWORD (D Schwarz) and IRONTAIL (R Danielson) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 150m, BENNELONG POINT (M Yeni) was accidently struck on the head by the crop of Jockey S Khumalo (FIERY DUKE). b) Apprentice DB Geerthsen (GREAT TIMES) dropped his crop shortly before the finish. c) Jockey R Khathi reported that FATHER'S FROST did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that JAQUAR CAT did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this horse. e) Jockey K Minnie reported that he felt something amiss with MISTER WHISTLE. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with SIRNIHAALLONGSWORD. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) SIRNIHAALLONGSWORD (D Schwarz) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K Davis) h) In view of the report from the Starter regarding PERSISTANCE (M van Rensburg), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 16/03/2024 to 22/03/2024 inclusive).
