THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CANFORD ICE (S Moodley) was stubborn to load. b) LICENCE TO THRILL (T Godden), PREEMPTIVE STRIKE (M Thackeray) and RUGGER BUGGER (C Zackey) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 300m LICENCE TO THRILL (T Godden) was switched to the outside of EL DRAQUE (C Maujean) to continue its run. b) At the 300m PREEMPTIVE STRIKE (M Thackeray) and FLIGHT PATH (*S Hlengwa) came together and brushed. c) In the concluding stages BOM BOM (C Habib) which was hanging in, had to be corrected to avoid making contact with LICENCE TO THRILL (T Godden). d) Shortly before the finish line, HIAWATHA GOLDBERG (D Daniels) which shifted out away from the crop, ducked in sharply when Jockey D Daniels attempted to straighten this gelding. e) In view of the performance of GRIFFIN PARK (R Fourie) (8.65 lengths, 11/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer M J Odendaal will be asked to report back on the condition of GRIFFIN PARK on return to stables. f) VOLDEMORT (*K J Lihaba), the joint winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
