THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MANEKI NEKO (A Domeyer) was re-saddled at the start. b) KINGSBOY (GB) (L Mxothwa) was restless in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. c) EXPLOSIVE SPEED (C Zackey) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CONNERY (D Schwarz) and LEAD TO GLORY (J Solomons) were hanging out in the latter stages. b) Jockey M Mjoka was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that he struck MISS LEMONADE with his crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey M Mjoka signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000,00. c) Jockey A Domeyer reported that MANEKI NEKO did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) EXPLOSIVE SPEED, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer D Lilley, acting on behalf of Trainer DM Kannemeyer, was advised.
