Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	COUNTDOWN (R Fourie) and WINTER CLOUD (A Andrews) were restless in the stalls.
b)	OCTOBER MORN (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	CAPTAIN FONTANE (C Zackey) was hanging out from the 400m.
b)	At the 250m DANCE VARIETY (C Orffer) was momentarily held up when close to the heels of JERUSALEMA RAIN (G Wright), which showed a tendency to hang out and shifted out gradually. Thereafter, JERUSALEMA RAIN (G Wright) continued to roll out and brushed CAFE CULTURE (JP van der Merwe), which was momentarily unbalanced and brushed the hindquarters of OCTOBER MORN (G van Niekerk). Jockey G Wright appeared before the Board and was advised to take more care in similar circumstances.
c)	At the 100m COUNTDOWN (R Fourie) was steadied briefly when close to the heels of OCTOBER MORN (G van Niekerk), which shifted inwards sharply and was immediately straightened. RED PALACE (O Noach), which was following, was steadied and was momentarily unbalanced as a consequence.
d)	RIO QUERARI (B Fayd'Herbe) and GOLD POKER GAME (J Solomons) brushed in the concluding stages.
e)	WINTER CLOUD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (SL)
