Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	MESCAL (C Maujean) and CALIDA (M Yeni) were slow losing one length.
   
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	At approximately the 1000m, SUPER AWESOME (G Lerena) was carried out by BOB (C Habib), which rolled out on the turn and was corrected. 
b)	At approximately the 400m, MUNCHKIN (R Danielson) was bumped by TURBO POWER (K Matsunyane), which rolled in. Thereafter, approaching the 200m, TURBO POWER (K Matsunyane) was bumped by MUNCHKIN (R Danielson), which shifted out away from the crop and was corrected. In response to being corrected this gelding shifted in sharply, which resulted in MESCAL (C Maujean) having to be steadied away from MUNCHKIN'S heels. 
	When taking into account MUNCHKIN'S history of shifting ground in races, Trainer M N Houdalakis will be advised to take the necessary corrective measures to improve this gelding's racing manners.
c)	Jockey	M Yeni reported that CALIDA did not stride out freely in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 	
d)	Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of JOHN WICK, misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. 
Jockey S Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R8000 was imposed.
e)	GRAPE SHOT (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P D Lhamini, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was advised (MS).
