THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ODE TO THE OCEAN (*S Sosibo) stumbled leaving the stalls. b) COUNT YOUR CHANCES (*J Botes) and BRIDGE OF SPIES (*K J Lihaba) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) A race review was called into the start of this Race with regard to BRIDGE OF SPIES (*K J Lihaba) in stall gate 8. It was established that this gelding was restless shortly before the start was effect, reared, and nudged the front starting stall gates open fractionally before they were released. The Board, was of opinion that BRIDGE OF SPIES had not gained any advantage and in fact, lost ground to the field, therefore deemed him to be a runner. b) PEACE OF MIND collapsed and dislodged Apprentice I Taka in the pull-up area. Apprentice I Taka was attended to by the Course Paramedics, and PEACE OF MIND was attended to by the Course Veterinary Surgeons. c) PEACE OF MIND (*I Taka), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (LK). d) AFTER HOURS (P Mxoli), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee P de Palma, acting on behalf of Trainer S J Gray, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) AFTER HOURS was ridden by Jockey P Mxoli (declared 27 May 2024 at 14H54). b) BRIDGE OF SPIES: Apprentice K J Lihaba weighed out at 52,5kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PEACE OF MIND collapsed in the pull-up area (treated). THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
