Stipes Report

The start of this Race was delayed due to Jockeys C Habib (MAIN DEFENDER), G Lerena (SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT) and S Veale (GLADATORIAN) having to re-saddle their mounts at the start.

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	ITSRAININGWILLIAM (S Moodley) lost 1 length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	Leaving the starting stalls MAIN DEFENDER (C Habib) and SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT (G Lerena) came together and bumped.
b)	SNOW PILOT (J P v'd Merwe) over-raced in the early and middle stages.
c)	At the 250m MAIN DEFENDER (C Habib) and in turn SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT (G Lerena) were carried in by SEE IT AGAIN (P Strydom) which was hanging in from the 300m and rolled in. Thereafter, MAIN DEFENDER (C Habib) which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when close to the heels of SEE IT AGAIN (P Strydom). 
d)	Jockey R Fourie reported that LUCKY LAD (R Fourie) made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e)	In view of the performances of MAIN DEFENDER (C Habib) (5.40 lengths, 5/2 in the betting), ITSRAININGWILLIAM (S Moodley) (11.50 lengths, 125/1 in the betting) and SNOW PILOT (13.15 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f)	DAVE THE KING (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M F De Kock advised (DZ).
