THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) CAPE EAGLE (S Moodley) and POLICY OF TRUTH (S Khumalo) over-raced in the early stages. b) Shortly after entering the final straight HOME OF THE BRAVE (D De Gouveia) was steadied when awkwardly placed between CAPE EAGLE (S Moodley) and FUTURE PEARL (R Fourie). a) At the 250m CAPE EAGLE (S Moodley) was carried in by FUTURE PEARL (R Fourie) which was switched to the inside of SHOOT THE RAPIDS (C Habib) to continue its run. b) Jockey R Fourie (FUTURE PEARL) accidentally dropped his crop at the 150m. c) Jockeys T Godden (FUTURE SAINT) and R A Venniker (WITHOUT QUESTION) reported that their respective mounts changed stride continually and did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. d) In view of the performance of POLICY OF TRUTH (S Khumalo) (18.60 lengths, 25/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) FUTURE PEARL (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
