Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start, Jockey G van Niekerk expressed concern with OLIVER's action during the canter past. This gelding was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. b) CARRIACOU (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 250m a tiring SPEEDING BULLET (D Ashby) had to be steadied when tightened for galloping room between FUTURE TURN (JP van der Merwe) and CARRIACOU (C Zackey), which was hanging out and proved difficult to straighten. During this incident, the saddle on CARRIACOU (C Zackey) shifted to one side. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. b) MACHETE MAN (C Bantam) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr B Gillespie) c) OLIVER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised.
