THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BRASS BELL (*K J Lihaba) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) STEVIE GEE (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 200m. b) KNIGHT WARRIOR (C Habib) was hanging out in the concluding stages. c) In view of the performance of GET CARTER (N Patel) (10.45 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Trainer D C Howells signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for POPPY OF BAYEUX. Accordingly, a warning was imposed. e) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 in that he as the rider of BRAVE VOYAGER misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly a penalty of a fine of R4000 was imposed. f) BRAVE VOYAGER (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D S Bosch advised (SP).
