THE STARTER REPORTED: a) POLAR WORLD (C Zackey) was reluctant to load and jumped slow, losing one length. b) DAWNOFANEWDAY (K de Melo) and MAGICAL JAVA (C Bantam) were restless in the stalls. c) GOING UP (G Cheyne) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SAFE TO ASSUME (AUS) (G van Niekerk) was examined at the start by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race, causing a delay. b) POLAR WORLD (C Zackey) raced wide on the bend and into the straight. b) At the 150m FLY TO RIO (J Jacobs) was directed to the inside of a tiring SAFE TO ASSUME (AUS) (G van Niekerk) to continue his run and thereafter rolled out in the latter stages, resulting in SAFE TO ASSUME (AUS) (G van Niekerk) having to ease slightly. c) There was a delay releasing the all clear while the Stipendiary Board analysed the photo finish to satisfy themselves with the correctness of the result. d) PERFECT TRUST, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
