THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 300m, PLAY WITH FIRE (S Khumalo) shifted in sharply for no apparent reason and thereafter hung in from the 150m. b) PARTY PUNCH (P Mxoli) hung in from the 150m. c) Jockey R Danielson reported that SPRINGER did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer R R Magner will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of SPRINGER on return to stables. d) An inquiry will be opened into Jockey G Lerena's (ARIEL'S JET) crop use in the concluding stages. e) ARIEL'S JET (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
