THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHOUT AT THE MOON (X Carstens), APPLE CATCHER (D Ashby) and TRUE HORIZON (G van Niekerk jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BLACK PATH (O Noach) was held up for a clear run between the 300m and the 100m. b) Jockey X Carstens was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking SHOUT AT THE MOON forward of the saddle at approximately the 250m. Jockey X Carstens signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. c) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey G van Niekerk's (TRUE HORIZON) use of the crop. d) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with LOOK FORWARD and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) Jockey D Ashby reported that APPLE CATCHER did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. f) JET GREEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Gila was advised.
