Stipes Report
The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous Race. There was a further delay due to reasons stated in the Starter's report below. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHARA SANDS (R Venniker) proved restless in the stalls and kicked the back gates. As a result, CONNERY (*J Botes) rushed the front gates. Both CHARA SANDS and CONNERY were removed from the starting stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the 400m, MASK ON (*B Plaatjies) and CHARA SANDS (R Venniker) came together and brushed. b) At the 150m, MASK ON (*B Plaatjies) and GRIFFIN PARK (S Veale) came together and brushed. c) In view of the performance of GRIFFIN PARK (S Veale) (7.30 lengths, 14/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Apprentice M Mbuto (KALAHARI ROLLER) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. e) CONNERY (*J Botes), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Buckler acting for Trainer G S Kotzen advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) GRIFFIN PARK : Not striding out right front. b) STANLEY PARK : Abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None
