THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL DAWN (*I Taka) and NEW YORK CITY (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing one length. b) BLUE RIBBON BAY (A Andrews) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being stood down in Race 1, Jockey JP van der Merwe was examined by the course Medical Officer and passed fit to ride. b) At the 400m KRIM (L Mxothwa) rolled in and had to be steadied briefly when close to the heels of FENCING CAPTAIN (R Fourie). Thereafter, Jockey L Mxothwa reported that KRIM took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) BLUE RIBBON DAY (A Andrews) and NEW YORK CITY (G van Niekerk) raced green. d) BAGATELLE FLASH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
