EN ROUTE TO THE START, KEY ELEMENT (P MXOLI) LIFTED ITS RIGHT FRONT SHOE WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CELTIC RUMOURS (G Lerena) was stubborn loading. Trainer S G Tarry was advised to reschool this mare prior to her next engagement (GT). b) BLUE HORIZON (*K J Lihaba) reared in the stalls. c) LET'S GO NOW (S Veale) and MY SOUL MATE (R Danielson) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SOLDIER'S EYE (K A Brewer), FROZEN FANTASY (R A Venniker) and SEA ANEMONE (S Moodley) over-raced in the early stages. b) FIERY PEGASUS (M K Katjedi) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that GIMME A SHOT did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) MISS HANNIGAN was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2 testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 36 TCO2 mmol/L. Trainer F P Habib was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer F P Habib was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 38 mmol/L and that consequently MISS HANNIGAN was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18 (Withdrawn at 14H23, 25/2 in the betting). MISS HANNIGAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib was advised (Mr L Anderson). e) CELTIC RUMOURS (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (MduP).
