Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED A) CHAMPAGNESOCIALIST kicked the back gate in the stalls. B) JACKSONVILLE refused to load and was subsequently withdrawn by the Starter. The starting stalls certificate for this gelding is withdrawn. C) TWICE THE DICE was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) IRISH SEA (K Minnie) over-raced in the middle stages. B) TWICE THE DICE commenced to give ground to the field from the 500m. Jockey J Mphanya reported that he felt something amiss with TWICE THE DICE in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. C) POWER SURGE (W Kennedy) shifted out away from the crop and had to be straightened at the 300m. D) In view of the performance of BOY NAMED SUE (G Cheyne) (distance 7.75 - betting 25/11) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. E) Jockey S Khathi (CHAMPAGNESOCIALIST) appeared before the Board and was advised that despite his crop use being within the limit of 12 strikes, the frequency of its use without giving this gelding an opportunity to respond, had come under notice. He was advised of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline G) and advised to give his mounts an opportunity to respond in future. F) In view of the Starter's report with regard to JACKSONVILLE (X Ndlovu), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading into the stalls. Suspension dates: 16 March 2021 to 22 March 2021 both days included. JACKSONVILLE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. G) Trainer G D Smith's attention was drawn to the provisions of Rule 10.5.7 pertaining to POWER SURGE (W Kennedy) not having raced for 120 days or more at the time of entries. H) The winner LORD MARMITE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM). I) The unplaced horse POWER SURGE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM).
