The start of this race was delayed due to SMORGASBORD (*K J Lihaba) having its tongue tie re-fitted at the start. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AFRICAN SKYLINE (A Mgudlwa) and PROUD MASTER (S Veale) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 150m PROUD MASTER (S Veale) was switched to the outside of TREAD SWIFTLY (K Matsunyane) which was hanging in from the 250m to continue its run. b) In the concluding stages AFRICAN SKYLINE (A Mgudlwa) was steadied momentarily when close to the heels of NO FILTER (C Habib) which rolled in. c) DONQUERARI (C Maujean) hung in, in the concluding stages. d) In view of the performance of QUANDARY (N Patel) (5.75 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) NO FILTER (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
