Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLACK PATH (K Steyn) was kicked at the start. This gelding was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) OZARK (R Fourie) jumped outwards and made contact with GOLD INDEX (A Arries), which in turn made contact with DREAM SEARCHER (C Bantam). c) FLYING BOMB (*I Taka) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 1400m FLYING BOMB (*I Taka), which pulled hard in the early stages, raced onto the heels of STATE CAPITOL (D Schwarz), was steadied and shifted out. As a consequence, GOLD INDEX (A Arries) and DE VLUGGE (S Hlengwa) were carried outwards for a number of strides. During this incident, the saddle on FLYING BOMB slipped forward in running, which placed Apprentice I Taka at a disadvantage. b) At the 300m STATE CAPITOL (D Schwarz) was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed on the inside of SUMMER NIGHT CITY (O Noach). c) OZARK (R Fourie) was hanging out and shifted out from the 200m. d) OZARK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Reeves was advised.
