THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MIGHTY MAC (R Khathi) was restless in the stalls.
b)	SHIFTING PATH (G van Niekerk) and IN THE GREEN ZONE (R Fourie) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	ALL ABOUT AL was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer AN Marcus was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer AN Marcus was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 38 mmol/L and that consequently ALL ABOUT AL was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 13h49, 5/10 in the betting). ALL ABOUT AL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised (Dr K van den Berg)
b)	COUNTER ATTACK (A Domeyer) and BARNEY MCGREW (D Ashby) were hanging out from the 300m.
c)	Jockey G van Niekerk (SHIFTING PATH) dropped his crop at the 100m.
d)	Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider BARNEY MCGREW he misused his crop by striking BARNEY MCGREW more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey D Ashby signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3000,00. 
e)	NIGHT TIGER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (TJ)
