Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SECRET PASSAGE dislodged Jockey C Zackey during the canter past and bolted. This gelding was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn.
b)	SCOTTISH LINKS (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	THE POSTMAN (A Mgudlwa) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Approaching the 150m BOUNCEBACK (R Fourie) was carried outwards and then bumped by VICTOR HUGO (S Moodley) which, after racing into the lead at the 300m commenced to hang out and shifted out sharply. Jockey S Moodley appeared before the Board and was advised that the Stewards expected him to straighten his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion and to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances.
b) 	While racing over the crossover at the 1000m, THUNDER DOWNUNDER (K Steyn) hesitated, shifted out and had to be ridden along for a number of strides.
c)	THUNDER DOWNUNDER (K Steyn) was hanging out in the straight.
d)	PAI MEI (RA Venniker) shifted in away from the crop in the latter stages.
e)	Jockey J Solomons reported that FIRST IN TOWN, which finished tailed off, did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f)	In view of the performance of THUNDER DOWNUNDER (K Steyn), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g)	BOUNCEBACK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TL)
