DURING THE LOADING PROCESS RADICCHIO (D SCHWARZ) BECAME RESTLESS IN THE STALLS. THIS GELDING WAS RELEASED, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON, PASSED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE FRONT LINE (R Danielson) was slow into stride. b) THE PLAYBOY BOMBER (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 300m RADICCHIO (D Schwarz) was carried out by CYMRIC (G Lerena) which shifted out marginally away from the crop, thereafter in the concluding stages RADICCHIO (D Schwarz) commenced to hang in. b) Jockey S Moodley reported that SILVER TUDOR did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that THE AFRICA HOUSE took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey D Schwarz signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2., in that he mis-used his crop by striking RADICCHIO forward of the saddle in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. e) RADICCHIO (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B D Botes was advised. (MS) JOCKEY CHANGES: a) Jockey D Schwarz was the rider of RADICCHIO (advised 11.01.2025/08h09).
