Stipes Report
ON ARRIVAL AT THE START JOCKEY C ZACKEY EXPRESSED CONCERNS REGARDING THE SOUNDNESS OF PROFESSOR SNAPE. THIS GELDING WAS EXAMINED BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON, WHO WAS OF THE OPINION THAT HE WAS FIT TO RACE. NOTWITHSTANDING THE VETERINARY SURGEON'S OPINION, JOCKEY C ZACKEY WAS STILL NOT COMFORTABLE TO RIDE PROFESSOR SNAPE. AS NO REPLACEMENT RIDER COULD BE FOUND, PROFESSOR SNAPE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 200m, LUTHULI (P Strydom), which was awkwardly placed between SUPREME DANCE (*N Nastili) and the outside running rail, was directed inwards to obtain a clear run. b) Apprentice N Nastili reported that SUPREME DANCE changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) ON TARGET (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee M Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer A P Peter, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) PROFESSOR SNAPE was carded to be ridden by Jockey C Zackey (declared 21 January 2025 at 08H19). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SUPREME DANCE not striding out right front. SCRATCHED: a) KUDZU insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) ONE MORE STAR insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). c) PROFESSOR SNAPE no suitable jockey available (NHA / 15H30).
