Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MISS VALENTYNA (S Naidoo) was unruly and stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls.
b)	FLYING SOLO (S Khathi) jumped outwards, losing two lengths.
c)	TRILLION DREAMS (J Gates) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
d)	POISE PANACHE (E Webber) jumped slow, losing one length.
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	TO BE FREE (K Steyn) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer SB 	Kotzen was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be 	suspended.
b)	As the start was effected, the front gates of CLOUDBURST (Y Ramzan) in stall 7 did not open. As a result, the Starter called a false start. All runners were restrained after travelling a short distance, were returned to the stalls, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay.
c)	At approximately the 1200m FLYING SOLO (S Khathi) ducked out sharply towards the outside running rail and proved difficult to assist. 
	This filly is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.5 until she proves tractable to race on a straight line in future engagements. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
d)	Jockey J Gates was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-	used his crop by striking TRILLION DREAMS forward of the saddle at the 250m. Jockey J Gates signed an 	admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00.
e)	MEURSAULT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM)
f)	DE VLUGGE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen, acting on behalf of Trainer GS Kotzen, was advised. (LM)
