Stipes Report
The start of this Race was delayed due to the reasons stated below in the Starters report. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GRAND OCCASION (R A Venniker) kicked the back gates, was removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start GRAND OCCASION (R A Venniker) and ETHEREAL VIEW (T Gooden) were bumped in by TWO G'S (C Zackey) which jumped in. b) GRAND OCCASION (R A Venniker) hung out from the 500m. c) POURSOMESUGARONME (C Maujean) was briefly baulked for a clear run at the 300m. d) Leaving the 200m POURSOMESUGARONME (C Maujean) was steadied when awkwardly placed between NELLIE MELBA (S Veale) which had come to the end of its run and SUNSHINE DAY (N Patel) which was carried in by ETHEREAL VIEW (T Godden) which was carried in by FORWARD MOTION (M YENI) which rolled in. e) Jockey N Patel signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, appendix E in that he mis-used his crop by striking SUNSHINE DAY forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) TWO G'S (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G Van Zyl (JNR) was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) NELLIE MELBA raced equipped with blinkers (Advised 12.02.25/09h23). b) SUNSHINE DAY raced equipped with tongue tie (Advised 13.02.25/07h47). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) REGENERATION: Abnormal respiratory noise. SCRATCHINGS : a) WEST SIDE STORY: Cast left front shoe which the Farrier was unable to re fit (Withdrawn by the Stipendiary Board at 15h55) and the betting was 11/1. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
