THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	STRATHCLYDE (R A Venniker) was stubborn to load. 
b)	GOLDEN DESTINY (C Zackey), PLAZA ACCORD (J Jacobs), PARMENION (S Hlengwa) and THE GHOST (M Yeni) lost 1 length. 
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	Leaving the 200m CAPSAICIN (T Godden) and STRATHCLYDE (R A Venniker) were carried out marginally by STARS IN HEAVEN (S Khumalo) which was directed outwards away from the heels of NELSON BAY (G Lerena), which commenced to hang out. 
b)	In the concluding stages STARS IN HEAVEN (S Khumalo) was carried out marginally by GOLDEN DESTINY (C Zackey) which hung out from the 150m.
c)	Jockey T Godden reported that he felt something amiss with CAPSAICIN in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
d)	Jockey M Yeni reported that THE GHOST made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. '
e)	In view of the performances of PROUD MASTER (C Habib) (15.25 lengths, 40/1 in the betting) and NOBLE CITY (A Mgudlwa) (16.85 lengths, 50/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
f)	PLAZA ACCORD (J Jacobs), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer V Beets acting on behalf of Trainer P B Muscutt was advised (DZ).
