There was a delay to the start of the 7th Race due to the 30 minute gap between Races 6 & 7 as well as the farrier having to re-fit the left fore shoe on NOTTINGHAM FOREST. GROOVY NEWS, MADAME LE ROI and SEMONKONG were all slow into stride. NOTTINGHAM FOREST was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Anthony was questioned regarding the improved performance of NOTTINGHAM FOREST compared to this gelding's previous run on the 18.12.2015. She explained that on that occasion the rider had allowed this gelding to race too freely from a wide drawn to obtain a handy position and as a result this gelding had compounded in the latter stages. Tonight she had instructed Jockey Randolph to restrain this gelding in the early and middle stages so as to give him a greater opportunity to run on at the finish. Further, she is of the opinion that NOTTINGHAM FOREST had benefited from the break between his previous run and tonight's race. Mrs Anthony has undertaken to race this gelding in a similar manner as tonight's race in future. Her explanation was noted and the future performances of NOTTINGHAM FOREST will be monitored. SUPREME POWER and SEMONKONG became cramped for galloping room on the inside of NOTTINGHAM FOREST between the 1100 and 900 metre marks.
