Light rain fell prior to and during the running of race 5. TOWER lost 1 length. SHERIFF HOOD and MICKY FLYN both lost 2 lengths. NOTACADEMICATALL and FIGARO were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. This was the 40th career winner for Apprentice De Gouveia and as of the completion of tonight's race meeting he will, in future, claim a 1.5 kg allowance and until the completion of the meeting at which he rides his 60th winner. FIGARO returned post race having cast the right front shoe. Trainer Lafferty was questioned regarding the improved performance of NOTACADEMICATALL compared to this gelding's performance on the 26 February 2017 at Scottsville. He explained that this gelding was not suited to the soft underfoot track condition that prevailed on that day. His explanation was noted. At approximately the 1400 metre mark the saddle of MICKY FLYN slipped forward badly resulting in Apprentice Arries being unable to assist his mount. Thereafter at approximately the 1000 metre mark MICKY FLYN shifted outwards sharply carrying TOWER outwards for a number of strides. Thereafter at approximately the 700 metre mark the lead bag on MICKEY FLYN dislodged and fell to the ground. This resulted in Apprentice Arries returning to scale 5.5 kg underweight. In view of the above report, following an Objection lodged by the Clerk of Scales which was upheld and in terms MICKY FLYN was disqualified as a result of Apprentice Arries weighing in more than 0.5 kg below the weight at which he was declared out. Vet: KALI'S CHAMP - cut into left hind. Scratched: ECCELLERATE - temperature. QUEEN'S BRIDGE - insufficient recovery time. GREY ICE - under 12 day suspension.
