THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) STANLEY STREET (*T Gumede) raced detached from the field throughout. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) At the 1100m, ARTIC TUNE (W Agrella) and TRILLIONAIRE (*K Strydom) were carried out by INSTINCTIVE POWER (*J Jacobs) which raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. c) MONTANA SKY (C Storey) raced wide into the first turn. d) BLOOD EAGLE (T Godden) was hanging in from the 400m. e) MONTANA SKY (C Storey) was hanging in from the 300m. f) LOVE THE VIEW (L Hewitson) was hanging out from the 300m. g) INSTINCTIVE POWER (*J Jacobs) shifted out to continue its run at the 300m. h) ARTIC TUNE (W Agrella) shifted out to obtain a clear run at the 300m. Thereafter, this gelding was hanging in, in the concluding stages. i) QUEPID (D Schwarz) which was hanging in from the 250m, shifted in away from the crop at the 200m. j) In the concluding stages, CHRISTMAS BAY (S Moodley) shifted out to obtain a clear run. Thereafter, this gelding finished its race off strongly. a) Jockey W Agrella signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse ARTIC TUNE more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey W Agrella the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey W Agrealla struck the horse ARTIC TUNE, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey W Agrella used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. b) Apprentice J Jacobs signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse INSTINCTIVE POWER more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice J Jacobs the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice J Jacobs struck the horse INSTINCTIVE POWER, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice J Jacobs used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. k) ARTIC TUNE (W Agrella), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (TN).
