THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARIZONA MAGIC was slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HEMISPHERE recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer F P Habib was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) After being slow away, ARIZONA MAGIC failed to muster speed and trailed the field. Thereafter, this gelding took awkward strides at approximately the 600m and 400m. In view of this report, the Veterinarian was requested to examine. c) HEMISPHERE hung in from the 300m. d) SET TO MUSIC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Dawson was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) ARIZONA MAGIC abnormal respiratory noise. SCRATCHED: a) ONE TIGER lame right hind (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
