THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CONGO COMPAQ (G Wright) was stubborn to load. b) BAYVIEW EXPRESS (A Arries) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey A Mgudlwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.3, in that as the rider of AFRICAN SKYLINE, he failed to ride this horse out to the end of the race, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. In assessing sanction, the Board took into consideration that whilst Jockey A Mgudlwa held the position for third in the closest of finishes, this was fortuitous rather than his ride being of the standard required by the Stewards. Consequently, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed rather than a suspension from riding in races as would have been the norm had Jockey A Mgudlwa failed to hold third position. b) In view of the performance of TEICHMAN (W Kennedy) (6.30 lengths, 7/2 in the betting), Trainer W Whitehead will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. c) LOVE THE VIEW (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Hewitson advised (ML). d) CONGO COMPAQ (G Wright), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Forster acting on behalf of Trainer W A Nel advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) TEICHMAN was ridden by Jockey W Kennedy (advised 12.09.21/7h41). b) LOVE THE VIEW raced with a compression mask. c) FOLLOW MY PATH raced with ear muffs (advised 12.09.21/8h45).
