THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At approximately the 300m, ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES (R Danielson), which rolled out, was steadied momentarily to avoid running onto the heels of WARM WINTER NITE (K Matsunyane), which rolled in.
b) CHIEFTAIN (G Lerena) hung in in the concluding stages.
c) Jockey J R Syster reported that he felt something amiss with TCHAIKOVSKY in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning TCHAIKOVSKY, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 120 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer J S Roux was advised.
e) CHIEFTAIN (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
