THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the starting stalls GIMME A RAINBOW (S Moodley) which was slow into stride was brushed on a number of occasions by BLESS ME FRED (*B Plaatjies) which jumped out. As a result GIMME A RAINBOW (S Moodley) was steadied, shifted in and took up a position at the rear of the field. b) In the concluding stages ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA (*J Botes) was baulked for a clear run. c) In view of the performances of BLESS ME FRED (*B Plaatjies) (12.55 lengths, 20/1 in the betting), GIMME A RAINBOW (S Moodley) (9.05 lengths, 40/1 in the betting) and NDAKA (T Godden) (8.65 lengths, 9/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) ONE TOO MANY (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
