THE STARTER REPORTED:

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	Shortly after the start Apprentice B Plaatjies (QUESTO E QUELLO) lost his footing to the right side stirrup iron which he regained shortly thereafter.
b)	NORTHERN WARRIOR (*D Pillay) and AVRO PRINCE (*I Taka) brushed on a number of occasions shortly after the start. 
c)	At the 250m GIMME A RAINBOW (S Moodley), which was hanging in from the 400m was switched out away from the heels of STANLEY PARK (T Godden) which had come to the end of its run and rolled out. 
d)	Leaving the 100m NORTHERN WARRIOR (*D Pillay) was brushed in by FIRE TONIC (S Veale) which shifted in away from the crop and was immediately straightened. 
e)	Jockey R A Venniker reported that PLETTENBERG raced with its tongue over the bit. 
f)	In view of the performances of PLETTENBERG (R A Venniker) (15.15 lengths, 14/1 in the betting) and AVRO PRINCE (*I Taka) (12.45 lengths, 125/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g)	Apprentice D Pillay (NORTHERN WARRIOR) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. 
h)	GORGEOUS GUY (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (DZ).
